Konstantin ZAKLINSKY

Teacher-repetiteur Honoured Artist of Russia

Born on 28 May 1955 in Leningrad. In 1974, he graduated from the Vaganova Academic Choreography School in Leningrad. In 1974, he began to work as a premier danseur of the Kirov Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (Mariinsky Theatre), where he performed major solo repertoire: Siegfried (Swan Lake), Désiré, Bluebird (The Sleeping Beauty), Albrecht (Giselle), Solor (La bayadère), Spartacus (Spartacus), Phoebus (Notre-Dame de Paris) and many others. He has collaborated with the renowned choreographers of the world ballet such as Sergeyev, Yakobson, Petit, Robinson and Béjart.

Konstantin Zaklinsky toured abroad a lot. He taught duet and classical dance at the Vaganova School (Academy of Russian Ballet). He is a ballet master-repetiteur of the Mariinsky Theatre.

Since 2015, Konstantin Zaklinsky has been a teacher-repetiteur of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre “Astana Opera”. He took part in the productions of the ballets La bayadère, Don Quixote and the Grand Pas from the ballet Paquita by Minkus, as well as in a new version of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and Adam’s Le Corsaire.

For the great contribution to the development of ballet art of Kazakhstan, he was awarded the Order of Dostyk, second class (2018).

Awards and achievements:

Winner of the International Ballet Competitions in Moscow (1981) and Tokyo (1984);

Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1983);

Winner of the Lenin Komsomol Prize (1983).
