Born in Almaty into a family of ballet dancers. In 1987, she graduated from the Almaty Choreographic School named after A. Seleznev and began to work as a ballet dancer at the Abai State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. Having mastered the theatre’s ballet repertoire, she became a soloist and danced all solo character parts: Mercedes (Don Quixote), the Big Swans’ variation, Spanish Dance, the Queen’s variation (Swan Lake), Dancer (Serenade), Eastern Dance (Aksak Kulan), Spanish Doll (The Nutcracker) and Second Wife (The Fountain of Bakhchisarai). She performed solo Kazakh national dances in operas Abai, Birzhan – Sara, Yer Targyn and others.
In 1987, Damira Zainullina began teaching at the Almaty Choreographic School named after A. Seleznev and simultaneously worked at the theatre.
In 1998, she graduated from the Women’s Pedagogical Institute and was awarded the qualification “teacher of choreographic disciplines”.
In 2004, she began working as a ballet dancer and teacher-repetite
Since 2013, Damira Zainullina has been a teacher-repetite
