Enchanting Violin Melody
In the Year of Youth, the Astana Opera will present a concert Saturday Classics, aimed at supporting and developing remarkable young talents of Kazakh classical music. On June 8, the brilliant young violinist, whose name adorns the posters of the famous concert venues of different countries, – winner of the 10th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians Akbike Algi will perform at the opera house’s Chamber Hall
Bach’s Sonata for Violin Solo No.1 in G minor BWV 1001 (Movements 1 and 2), Ravel’s Concert Rhapsody for Violin and Piano Tzigane, Khachaturian’s Nocturne, and Violin Concerto (Movement 2) by the eminent Kazakh composer Gaziza Zhubanova will be featured for the audience’s attention. Johannes Brahms’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No.3 in D minor, which musicologists call the ‘four-movement symphony in miniature’, will be the core of the concert program. Akbike Algi and the pianist Ilyas Uzbekov (class of teacher Daniyar Yessimkhanov) will perform in a duet this major chamber work by the German classical composer. Ilyas Uzbekov will also present to the listeners Liszt’s Transcendental Étude No. 12 (The Snowstorm), Rachmaninoff’s Étude No. 6, op 39, Chopin’s Fantaisie in F minor.
Akbike Algi graduated from the Kazakh National University of Arts (class of Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan, Professor Raissa Mussakhojayeva). Among her numerous awards are the Grand Prix and prizes of prestigious international competitions held in Germany, Russia and Kazakhstan, including the renowned International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. The concert performances of the talented artist took place in the venues of Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, Great Britain, India and Jordan. In 2018, Akbike Algi performed before the sophisticated audience of the famous Carnegie Hall in New York. Celebrated violinists, People’s Artists of the USSR Viktor Tretyakov, Zakhar Bron and Eduard Grach, note that Akbike is a promising and sensitive musician, who has a ‘deep philosophical understanding of the works she performs’.
