The flute is one of the oldest musical instruments. Light, airy, ‘fluttering’ sound of an amazing virtuoso instrument from the woodwinds family evokes associations with the birds’ singing. During many centuries of its development, the design of the flute has undergone significant changes. The sound of a flute is reminiscent of magic. Its marvelously beautiful melody is extraordinarily clear, pure and bright. It is not without reason that the flute occupies a special place in the folklore and fairytales of many peoples, and is often endowed with mystical properties.
In the hands of experienced musicians of the Astana Opera orchestra, soft and melodious sound of the flute will not only give the listeners aesthetic pleasure, but will also enchant them with its expressive and permeating music. A wide range of musical stylistic genres – from the Baroque to the works of contemporary authors will be featured for the audience. The musicians will demonstrate diversity of the artistic and technical capabilities of the flute.
The rich concert program includes rarely performed works for flute and orchestra: J. Casterède’s Flutes en Vacances, A. Jolivet’s Flute Concerto, F. Borne’s Fantasie Brillante on themes from Bizet’s Carmen, C. Chaminade’s Flute Concertino, K. Doppler’s Fantaisie pastorale hongroise, fantasy on themes from G. Verdi’s Rigoletto, F. Martin’s Ballade, J. Andersen’s Ballade et Danse des Sylphes, A. Vivaldi’s Concerto per Flautino.
