The Astana Opera Presents The Future and the Present of the Kazakhstani Ballet
Ballet Gala, in which two generations of dancers – young students of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, as well as experienced soloists of the Astana Opera – will meet, will be held at the Grand Hall of the capital’s opera house on May 19.
The Artistic Director of the ballet company – People’s Artist of Russia Altynai Asylmuratova included in the rich program, comprised of two parts, the Suite from Khachaturian’s ballet Gayane and fragments from classical and contemporary ballets.
In the 21st century, the ballet Gayane has practically disappeared from the theatrical stages, but separate numbers staged by Nina Anisimova continue to be included in concert programs. This evening, the residents and guests of the capital will see for the first time a suite from this ballet performed by novice talented dancers of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography. This unique joint project of the opera house and the academy is intended to show the creative power of the Kazakh ballet: its future and present. The younger generation of dancers will have to demonstrate their full potential. Their names are not yet known to the general public, but soon they will be featured on opera houses’ billboards not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad.
World choreographic masterpieces interpreted by the Astana Opera dancers will be a striking continuation of the program. Thus, pas de deux from Riccardo Drigo’s ballet Harlequinade choreographed by Marius Petipa, a duet from Sergei Prokofiev’s ballet Romeo and Juliet choreographed by Leonid Lavrovsky, Gypsy Dance from Ludwig Minkus’ ballet Don Quixote choreographed by Marius Petipa (revised by Elena Sherstneva) and much more was prepared for the audience’s attention.
Duet from the famous choreographer Roland Petit’s ballet Carmen to the music of Georges Bizet will be the evening’s highlight. Let us remind that the outstanding ballet master Luigi Bonino has brought this duet to the Astana Opera’s stage. It is known that the celebrated contemporary choreographer Roland Petit has staged it for his wife, the sought-after ballerina Zizi Jeanmaire. The main theme of the number is the physical manifestation of love of passionate Carmen and the courageous Don José. On the capital’s stage, the duet will be performed by Honoured Workers of Kazakhstan Gaukhar Ussina and Rustem Seitbekov.
Honoured Workers of Kazakhstan Bakhtiyar Adamzhan, Aigerim Beketayeva, Anel Rustemova, international competitions laureates Yerkin Rakhmatullayev, Olzhas Tarlanov, Serik Nakyspekov, Anastasia Zaklinskaya, Shugyla Adepkhan, Daler Zaparov, Nazira Zayetova, Bostan Kozhabekov, Daniyar Zhumatayev, Natalya Kondya, Sultanbek Gumar, Galymzhan Nurmukhamet will also present their performance skills.
